Grams to Cups Converter

Convert grams to cups, tablespoons and teaspoons for flour, sugar, butter and dozens more, using each ingredient's own weight per cup.

How this is calculated

A cup is a measure of volume and a gram is a measure of weight, so the conversion depends on how heavy the ingredient is. Each ingredient here has a weight for one US customary cup (236.588 millilitres). Your grams are divided by that weight to give cups, then split into tablespoons (16 to a cup) and teaspoons (48 to a cup).

Published weights for the same ingredient differ, mostly because flour and sugar pack differently depending on how they are scooped. The weight used is the middle value of the sources listed in the project notes, with the lowest and highest values shown beside the result so you can see how much the answer could move.

These are US customary cups. A metric cup (250 millilitres) and an imperial cup are larger, so a recipe written for either will not match these figures exactly.

Limits

US customary cups only. Weights depend on how the ingredient is measured, so for baking, weigh the ingredient when you can. Amounts up to 100000 grams.
