How this chart is made
Each weight per cup is the middle value across the published sources used for this site, read on 2026-10-08. The last column shows the lowest and highest value those sources gave, so you can see how much they differ. The same numbers drive the converters on this site.
Tablespoon and teaspoon weights are exact fractions of the cup weight: a tablespoon is a sixteenth of a cup and a teaspoon is a forty-eighth. Ounces are avoirdupois ounces, 28.35 grams each. Cups are US customary cups of 236.588 millilitres.
Ingredients such as flour can differ by 10 percent or more depending on whether they are spooned, scooped or sifted. Each row names the measuring method its figure assumes. Where the sources disagree by more than 10 percent the row says so.
Limits
US customary cups, tablespoons and teaspoons only. The figures are a close guide, not a laboratory measurement: weigh the ingredient when a recipe needs precision.
